August Member of the Month – Julia Dalton

Congratulations to Julia Dalton the August Member of the Month!

Chances are that you’ve probably seen a lot of Julia Dalton in the past couple months. Maybe you caught her on T.V. as one of Channel 5’s featured athletes, maybe you saw her winning the novice women’s heavyweight division of the 2ND Annual JD’s Gym Strongman competition, or maybe ran into her as she was wrecking weights during one of her late night training sessions. Regardless of where you might have seen her, her drive is unmistakable.

This drive and determination has molded Julia into a force to be reckoned with this past year. After successfully battling a health scare, she took up strongwoman training in preparation for the competition this summer. Initially she just wanted to be able to do all the events in the competition, but as her strength continued to climb so did her passion for lifting. With a renewed sense of motivation, she attacked her training and built herself into one of the strongest women at JD’s Gym.
She is most proud of her 65lb circus dumbbell press, 80lb keg press, and 150lb sandbag load. In addition, look for a number of other PRs to fall before her next competition.

Her first place finish this summer earned her an invitation to compete in the Strongman National Championships next summer. Although she is proud of her progress so far, she feels like she still has a ways to go and a number of weaknesses to target. Her goal is to increase her overall strength so she is able to compete in the Strongwoman Open Division. This might be a tall order, but Julia says she now looks forward to lifting and is passionate about training hard. Her new passion coupled with the drive and determination that she already possesses will allow her to be become a formidable competitor for years to come.

Great job, Julia! Keep it up.
